Remembering the reinterment – King Richard III in pictures
Following the launch of its photography exhibition Reinterment: One Year On in February and subsequent appeal for images from the reinterment, the Visitor Centre will unveil a huge photo-mosaic portrait of the King today.
The portrait has been created from the thousands of images that were captured during the build up to the reinterment events and during the week itself. Images have been sent from members of the public who were in Leicester for the reinterment and are from as far afield as the United States.
Images have also been contributed by Leicester Cathedral, University of Leicester, Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council.
Iain Gordon, Visitor Centre Director said: “The Visitor Centre wanted to remember the reinterment in a really special way, whilst also acknowledging the involvement of those who took part in the proceedings and made it a very special occasion.
“We are delighted to unveil the portrait of King Richard III and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed images.”
The portrait is on display as part of the Reinterment: One Year On photography exhibition until 2nd May and is included in admission to the Visitor Centre.
